Molecular Mixology on your Wedding!

How about feeling mojito bubbles exploding in your mouth? Or having a Margarita with airy lime foam? Or just biting an ABC Shot? Well with molecular mixology you can make the difference!
Molecular mixology consists in mixing drinks using techniques found in science in order to experiment with ingredients on a molecular level.

Its purpose is to manipulate states of matter to create textures, shapes and visual effects, all this to create an interesting, innovative and fun experience.

Some of the ingredients that are used in molecular mixology are Cold Soluble Gelatin, Calcium Lactate, Sodium Alginate, Xanthan Gum, Soy Lecithin and even Liquid Nitrogen!
Those names might sound kind of dangerous, but believe me; these ingredients are used in plenty of foods. They are not toxic at all, so you can calm down and start being part of this new trend.

Molecular Mixology involves a variety of techniques, but the most popular are:

Spherification: It’s when your drink makes a bubble, it doesn’t matter the bubble size, but believe me, having the bubble in your mouth and feeling the splash of flavors is an awesome experience!

Gels/Fancy Jell-O Shots: This technique is not that new at all, but this is not about just having a drink to party, these Jell-O Shots will show all the colors of the ingredients and you can play with this technique matching the shots with your wedding theme having them in a classy or sassy way!

Ice Pops: They are made with Liquid Nitrogen, and it’s very easy and fast to prepare! Colors, flavors, size and shapes, you can do whatever you want!

Frozen ‘Nitro’ Cocktails: want to avoid the blending machine noise? Once again Liquid Nitrogen is the option. The way the drinks look when they are being served it’s impressive; you would appreciate how the drink and the environment’s temperature crash. A really ‘cool’ look!

Foams/Air: It’s like having a sugar cotton candy, but with the taste of your favorite drink. It’s mostly made with Margaritas, but if you talk with your bartender I’m sure he will find the best option for you.

Layered Cocktails: Are you wondering how is it possible that the ingredients do not mix? Well, Molecular Mixology is the reason why this is possible. Colors and flavors is all what you are going to have!

I have given you some ideas to create a ‘wow’ factor in your drinks, now it’s your turn to choose the flavors, colors and techniques that can match with your wedding theme!

Cheers!
